When designing, I consider the client's lifestyle the place to start. Do they entertain often? Do they have children? Dogs that love couches? Is it a selling space or an office space? The answers to these questions effect the fabrics and pallet chosen for any design.
One of the most important ingredients in successful design is comfort. Cost does not equate with comfort, quality or tastefulness. Design should be timeless, imaginative and personal. A home should not feel like a museum or a catalog, but, a home where you live and enjoy living in that home. Finally, there is color. Color can be used as a neutral in vast amounts, or as a punctuation mark in an unexpected, special place.
